CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte 49ers baseball team officially opened up the 2021 spring season with the first practice on Friday afternoon, a day after a successful second annual First Pitch event featuring guest speakers Daniel Bard, Rockies reliever, and Mike Shildt, former 49ers coach and now manager of the St. Louis Cardinals.
"I'm fired up and our whole coaching staff is fired up for today," began Head Coach Robert Woodard. "You can feel the energy in the stadium. It's a good feeling. I'm excited to see this group of guys play. They have worked extremely hard since they showed up on campus in September to put themselves in position to be ready this spring and have a great 2021 season.
