HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Sophomore Amaka Awuruonye put together a recording-setting performance in the women's pentathlon to highlight day one of Marshall's 2017 Thundering Herd Invite at the Chris Cline Athletic Complex Friday evening.
Awururonye started the day strong, taking 8th in the pentathlon 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.22 seconds before earning 4th in the high jump with a height of 1.62 meters (5'3.75). She upped the ante in the next event however, setting a new personal record in the shot put with a throw of 10.03 meters (32'11), surpassing her previous best of 9.
