Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers (1-2) split their games at the Charlotte Invitational on Saturday as they won their first game of the day against Appalachian State (1-1), 9-5, then lost to Virginia (2-1) in eight innings, 7-6, on Feb. 8 at Sue M. Daughtridge Stadium. Head coach Ashley Chastain picked up her first win as the 49ers head coach and sophomore catcher Bailey Vannoy was a combined 6-for-8 at the plate with three home runs and six RBIs.
"I'm really proud of our team and excited about what they did," Chastain said.
