In a game dominated by defense, Marshall kept Charlotte out of the end zone en route to a 14-3 road victory at Jerry Richardson Stadium, Saturday night.
The 49ers (0-6; 0-2) held Marshall (4-1; 1-0) to a season-low 14 points, forced two fumbles and allowed just two red zone drives.
"What I saw out there tonight was really encouraging," 49ers head coach Brad Lambert said. "I saw some really good things. We've got to do the little things and we have to make plays. Our defense – holding that bunch to 14 points – I thought the guys battled up front.
