COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Charlotte softball team earned its first win of the 2017 season with a 2-1 victory over the Longwood Lancers before falling, 6-3, to the Ohio Bobcats on the second day of the Carolina Classic at South Carolina's Beckham Field.
The 1-1 split on the day moves Charlotte's overall record to 1-2 on the season following a 2-1 loss to Presbyterian on Friday.
GAME ONE
Playing as the home team in the first contest of the day, the 49ers pounced early to take a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Emma Ocker smacked a single into shallow center field to open the inning, followed by a bunt single by junior Kiersten Berrier.
