ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Charlotte softball team split its doubleheader Saturday at Terry Field in Rock Hill, S.C., picking up a huge 5-3 win over No. 16 Kentucky for its first win against a ranked opponent since 2012, before dropping an 8-5 contest against Lehigh in the nightcap despite a rally in the seventh inning.
Charlotte becomes just the second team from a Group of Five conference to defeat the Wildcats since 2008, after UK dropped a game last season to Kennesaw State.
The 49ers are now 13-4 on the season, while UK sits at 16-3 and Lehigh at 5-3.
