Charlotte, N.C. - Senior Carson Pace pitched five scoreless innings, but the Charlotte 49ers (1-3) fell to the Appalachian State Mountaineers (2-2), 4-1, on Sunday, Feb. 9 at Sue M. Daughtridge Stadium in the final day of the Charlotte Invitational.
"I think this is the toughest loss for our team over the weekend," head coach Ashley Chastain said. "It was a tight game and I thought Carson Pace really pitched well. We just couldn't figure it out there in the top of the sixth. We weren't really expecting the ball on defense, which happens sometimes when you have a pitcher who is really dealing.
