The Charlotte 49ers second-half rally from 18 points down ended on the 49ers third Pick Six of the season as visiting North Carolina A&T scored a 35-31 victory before a record crowd of 18,651 at Jerry Richardson Stadium.
"Give credit to A&T," 49ers head coach Brad Lambert said. "They made a play there at the end of the game. I thought they were a good team going into it – no different going out. We dug too deep of a hole."
The "hole" was a 21-7 deficit early in the second quarter. The "play there at the end of the game" was a 74-yard interception return with 24 seconds left as the 49ers were knocking on the door of a game-tying field goal or a game-winning touchdown.
