The Charlotte 49ers (14-18, 4-7 C-USA) dropped the second game of the series 17-8 to Florida Atlantic Saturday night despite a 12-hit performance by Charlotte and another home run for Brett Netzer.
The FAU Owls (23-5, 9-2 C-USA) went into the three-game series with Charlotte as the No. 12 ranked team in the nation, putting a halt to the 49ers quest to get their second Conference USA (C-USA) series win.
Reece Hampton continued his dominance leading off games in the batters box, smacking a triple down the right field line, getting brought in by a sacrifice fly to left field off the bat of Logan Sherer, giving Charlotte an early lead in Boca Raton, Fla.
