CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A thrilling, 2-1, walk-off win after extra innings in the first game and a dominant, 8-3, victory in the second game gave the Charlotte softball team a doubleheader sweep over Gardner-Webb at the D.L. Phillips Softball Complex on Wednesday.
With the duel-victories, the 49ers improve to 3-3 on the season while the Runnin' Bulldogs fall to 2-7.
GAME ONE
A pitcher's duel between junior and Gardner-Webb's Mackenzie Thompson highlighted game one on the day, a contest that required extra innings to resolve.
With international tiebreaker rules in effect, Gardner-Webb began the top of the eighth with a runner already stationed at second base before she was move the third with a sacrifice bunt.
