49ers Dropped in C-USA Opener, 52-17

"Nothing went very well," said 49ers head coach Brad Lambert. "Obviously, I didn't have them ready to play. That's my responsibility."

Using a balanced attack that produced 481 yards of total offense, four rushing TDs and three passing TDs, Old Dominion (3-2; 2-0) handed the 49ers (1-4; 0-1) a 52-17 loss in Charlotte's Conference USA opener before a crowd of 12,589 at Jerry Richardson Stadium.

ODU raced to a 21-3 first quarter-lead by taking advantage of a pair of Charlotte miscues on back-to-back possessions. Punter Arthur Hart was unable to get a kick off after a short-hop snap that he was unable to handle cleanly, setting ODU up on the 49ers' 21-yard line.
