A road trip to South Bend, Indiana proved to be too much as No. 14 Notre Dame knocked off Central Michigan soccer, 3-1.
In the Chippewas season opener Thursday, they were outshot by the Fighting Irish 28-10 while committing eight fouls to Notre Dame’s four.
The Fighting Irish struck within the first eight minutes with a goal from sophomore Eva Hurm to take an early 1-0 lead. The Chippewas responded near the 20 minute mark with senior Madison Costner finding the back of the net to help CMU carry a 1-1 tie going into halftime at Alumni Stadium.
