One season ago, the Central Michigan women's basketball team was selected in the preseason to finish No. 1 in the Mid-American Conference. Head coach Sue Guevara's group dominated the MAC and made a run to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.
Once again, the Chippewas are the No. 1 pick in the conference prior to the 2018-19 season. The team was selected to win the MAC West, regular-season title and tournament championship.
But Guevara remains focused on the end goal.
"Our program appreciates the respect that my fellow coaches have for our returning players," Guevara said. "It's not about where you're picked early, it's about where you finish.
