YPSILANTI, Mich. - Central Michigan coach Jerry Reighard continually reiterates that the sport of gymnastics is one of the few that doesn’t rely on a defensive game plan to win meets.
That philosophy was echoed Friday at Eastern Michigan’s Convocation Center when Reighard explained that he didn’t bother looking at the opponent’s routines, and instead concentrating on the performances of his own gymnasts in a non-conference meet with the Eagles.
The Chippewas’ 195.400 finish was their highest score of the season, but a near-flawless staging by the Eagles and CMU’s youthfulness cost the Chippewas their first loss of the season.
