Upset Central; Chippewas top Tigers for first-ever NCAA Tournament victory

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Bust out the turntable because it’s time to spin some records.

On Saturday afternoon from Ohio State University’s St. John Arena the Central Michigan University women’s basketball team won its first-ever NCAA Tournament game by topping Louisiana State University by a final of 78-69.

The 11th-seeded Chippewas outscored the sixth-seeded Tigers 38-31 in the second half after taking a 40-38 lead into the half. With the win CMU advances to take on site host Ohio State, which is seeded third, on Monday. Game time has yet to be announced.

The victory was also the 29th of the season for the Chippewas (29-4) which is a single-season school record.
