Toledo’s backup sophomore quarterback Eli Peters shocked Western Michigan by coming off the bench and leading the Rockets (4-4, 2-2 Mid-American Conference) to a 51-24 victory at Waldo Stadium.
This comes just one week after WMU (6-3, 4-1) put themselves in a tie for first place of the MAC West Division with Northern Illinois (5-3, 4-0). They now trail the Huskies by a half game.
Peters threw three touchdowns in the final 30 minutes of the game and went 8-of-14 overall for 107 yards. Rockets’ senior wide receiver Cody Thompson had six catches with three of them being touchdowns.
