Sound of silence: Central Michigan stunned at home by last-second Kent State field goal

Central Michigan’s faithful, the fans who actually showed up and stayed for the duration, tried their mightiest to generate some crowd noise in the waning seconds of Saturday afternoon’s game at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

Kent State was driving down the field, the game was deadlocked at 24-24 and the Chippewas were in danger of losing their third Mid-American Conference game in five weeks.

A game full of twists and turns, ups and down, good luck and bad luck, strong execution and cringe-worthy miscues would come down to one 35-yard field goal attempt by Golden Flashes kicker Shane Hynes.
