MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – There was an awful lot to like last weekend when the Central Michigan softball team opened the season by winning the Mercer Invitational.
• The Chippewas came back from two straight losses to win three in a row and claim the crown.
• They collected 30 hits and outscored their opponents, 22-3, in those three victories.
• Pitchers Rachael Knapp and Hanna Warren delivered back-to-back shutouts to pitch the Chippewas into the title game.
