DeKALB, Ill. – Katelyn Rentschler homered and Rachael Knapp tossed a three-hitter Saturday as the Central Michigan softball team punched its ticket to the Mid-American Conference Tournament with a 4-1 victory over Northern Illinois.
The Chippewas, who are 24-25-1 overall and finished 11-11-1 in the MAC, are seeded eighth in the tournament and will play top-seeded Kent State at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio.
Kent State is 35-20, 16-7. The Golden Flashes swept the Chippewas in a three-game series in late March.
