KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Central Michigan softball team couldn’t get the big hit when it needed it Wednesday in dropping a 6-0 Mid-American Conference game to Western Michigan at the Broncos’ Fran Ebert Field.
The loss, CMU’s third straight, dropped the Chippewas to 15-21-1 overall, 2-8-1 MAC. They play host to Toledo in a three-game MAC series beginning on Friday. The Rockets are 8-28, 3-8. Western Michigan improved to 16-18, 7-3 with the win on Wednesday.
The Chippewas managed just three hits -- singles by Katelyn Rentschler and Sara Hansen and a double by Sydney Heath – off Western Michigan pitcher Allyson Kus (11-9), who went the distance and is 5-0 with a 1.
