Rapid Reaction: Wrestling finishes second at MAC Tournament, Ellingwood wins 184-pound title

Illinois senior Lucas Smith grabs Ohio University senior Spartak Chino at the MAC wrestling championship in the Eastern Michigan Convocation Center on Sunday, March 6, 2016.

Ypsilanti — Central Michigan wrestling had four wrestlers competing for a Mid-American Conference Tournament championship Sunday. Only one won, but seven Chippewas qualified for the NCAA Tournament on March 19 as CMU took second place at the Convocation Center.

After losing its first three title matches, junior 184-pounder Jordan Ellingwood was CMU's last hope for a champion at the tournament. The Sophomore defeated Jack Dechow of Old Dominion 7-3, to win the lone championship for the Chippewas and the first of Ellingwood’s career.
