Nate Schneider: Central Michigan surprised in 2015, won't be catching anyone asleep in '16

The expectations were not high for the Central Michigan football team in 2015 to say the least.

A first-time head coach in John Bonamego, the loss of several star players from the 2014 roster to graduation and a very tough Mid-American Conference West Division were among the reasons people factored into their very modest predictions for the Chippewas.

Throughout the summer, you would hear guesstimates ranging anywhere from 2-10 to 5-7 with most believing that a five-win season would be acceptable all things considered.

A 7-5 regular season and a bowl game was almost an unthinkable result, certainly not one that was talked about in a realistic tone.
