Two years ago they were a relative unknown picked to finish fifth in the Mid-American Conference’s West Division.
That prognostication proved to be way off target though in that the 2015-16 Central Michigan University women’s basketball team went on to win the MAC West Division title and came with seconds of winning the MAC Tournament title.
This season the Chippewas were picked to win the MAC West Division and MAC Tournament titles in the preseason poll and on Saturday they checked the former off their to-do list as they crushed Eastern Michigan 71-48 on Senior Day from McGuirk Arena.
