A prestigious honor was given to Central Michigan senior defensive back Colton Odykirk Sunday evening at the team’s annual football banquet.
Voted on by his Chippewas teammates, Odykirk received the Kurt Dobronski Award which goes to a CMU player who demonstrates great effort, intensity and appreciation for the football program.
The award is named in honor of former Central Michigan two-time All-Mid-American Conference linebacker and four-year letterman Kurt Dobronski (1978-81), who died at age 28 in the Northwest Airlines Flight 255 crash in Detroit in 1987.
Odykirk, a Mount Pleasant High School graduate, has played through membranous nephritis which is a disease that limits the kidneys ability to process protein.
