The annual Central Michigan spring game went down in mostly predictable fashion Saturday afternoon at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
As expected, backups and those battling for various positions saw a lot of the reps while many veteran starters were held out due to minor injuries or simple rest.
When the dust settled, the Gold topped the Maroon by a count of 21-7 behind two touchdowns from freshman quarterback Jake Johnson.
“I thought it was some good and some bad,” Chippewas second-year head coach John Bonamego said of the day overall. “Some crisp and some sloppy. I’m just glad we got through it healthy.
