On Wednesday night the Central Michigan University women’s basketball program pulled out a character win at the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti.
Down 44-34 with 3:16 left in the third quarter the Chippewas reeled off a 22-5 to claim a 56-49 lead with 8:24 left in the fourth.
CMU eventually held off a desperation last-ditch run by the Eagles to win 66-65 and they did so without two key contributors in Cassie Breen and Jewel Cotton.
Breen had her appendix removed last Saturday following CMU’s 77-54 win over Miami and Cotton has been out with a bone bruise on her knee since Jan.
