MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Certainly, John Bonamego and his Central Michigan football team would prefer to control their own destiny.
But two Mid-American Conference losses have put the Chippewas at the mercy of fate, and they are in the unenviable position of hoping that the teams above them in the West Division standings lose enough games that CMU may re-enter the picture.
That’s an unlikely scenario and, coming off a 31-17 loss at Toledo, the Chippewas are in readjusting mode.
“I could tell them that we’re still mathematically alive and all that stuff, but I think that insults their intelligence,” Bonamego said.
