DIII hockey takes first round playoff win versus Northwood

A bounce-back victory came for the No. 2 Central Michigan University men’s Division III hockey team in a 12-1 over No. 7 Northwood University Friday night at Midland Civic Arena.

CMU grabbed its 19th win of the season by more than five points. It was the first round of the Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference tournament.

CMU is now 31-6 (18-6 in MCHC), and Northwood ends their season with an overall record 9-13 (7-12 in MCHC).

Northwood got on board first when defenseman Mitchell Dundore scored his 8th goal of the season.

Three different Chippewas mounted the counter attack to finish the first period with a two-goal lead over the Timberwolves.
