The Central Michigan University football team took down rival Eastern Michigan to become bowl eligible for the ninth time in 12 years on Wednesday night from Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
“It means you’re bowl eligible, but doesn’t necessarily mean you’re guaranteed (a bowl game invitation),” commented CMU head coach John Bonamego after Wednesday night’s win, “Six wins is where we’re at right now, but we’d like to put on a few more.”
The Chippewas (6-4, 4-2 MAC) used a strong defensive effort in which they forced six turnovers to build an early lead before holding off a late push by the Eagles (3-7, 1-5).
