Deeg pitches complete-game shutout as Chippewas stay alive in MAC Tournament

The CMU baseball team huddles before the Chippewas Game against Bowling Green on March 22 at Theunissen Stadium.

After dropping its first game of the Mid-American Conference Tournament to the third-seeded Miami Redhawks 10-5 Wednesday, the Central Michigan baseball team kept its season alive by defeating No. 2 Ball State 4-0 on Thursday in Avon, Ohio.

Starting pitcher, junior Nick Deeg earned a complete-game shutout for the Chippewas. Deeg allowed four hits and finished with eight strikeouts.

Up 1-0 in the seventh inning, the CMU batters gave Deeg some insurance runs. After an RBI single from junior catcher Robert Greenman, the bases were loaded for sophomore outfielder Daniel Jipping.
