Ryan Heeke entered the Central Michigan baseball program in 2012 as damaged goods, a product of an unfortunate knee injury that sidelined him toward the end of an All-State senior season at Mount Pleasant High School.
Through dedication to his craft and the mindset to one day become an everyday contributor for the Chippewas, Heeke is wrapping up his collegiate career five seasons later as a valuable starter on a squad focused on making noise in the upcoming Mid-American Conference Tournament.
It wasn’t easy.
“Coming in on crutches to leaving feeling good about yourself – it’s been a long and satisfying journey,” Heeke said.
