OXFORD, Ohio – Steve Jaksa has won 500 games as the Central Michigan baseball coach.
Some of those wins came relatively easily, others were a little more stressful. Put this one in the latter category.
On Friday, the Chippewas lost starting pitcher Pat Leatherman to injury just one batter in to their Mid-American Conference game at Miami (Ohio) and then trailed, 2-0, heading into the sixth inning.
But the Chippewas got an outstanding patchwork performance from three relievers and some timely hitting in rallying to beat the RedHawks, 6-2, in the opener of a three-game series at McKie Field.
