AKRON, Ohio – The Central Michigan University softball team dropped into the loser’s bracket at the Mid-American Conference softball tournament on Wednesday as it fell to Kent State 1-0 from Firestone Stadium.
With the loss the eighth-seeded Chippewas (24-26-1) now face fifth-seeded WMU at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in an elimination game. The Broncos fell to Northern Illinois 3-1 in Wednesday’s opening game.
The top-seeded Golden Flashes (36-20) scored the game’s lone run in the bottom of the first inning and held on from there.
CMU starter Rachael Knapp (14-13) took the loss as she allowed one earned run on four hits while walking two and striking out five in six frames.
