It took an extra five minutes of play, but the Central Michigan Chippewas pulled away late and defeated the Bowling Green Falcons 81-77 in overtime at McGuirk Arena on Monday night in an opening round Mid-American Conference Tournament game.
It was CMU’s fifth win in its last six games against BGSU. The victory advanced the home team to the quarterfinals of the MAC tournament which will play out over the next week in Cleveland at Quicken Loans Arena.
This was the first time in school history that McGuirk hosted a tournament game. The team is now even at 7-7 in the first round of the tournament.
