CLEVELAND – Central Michigan’s 89-74 men’s basketball loss to Buffalo in a Mid-American Conference Tournament quarterfinal game at Quicken Loans Arena on Thursday followed a familiar path.
The Chippewas fell behind early, scratched and clawed to stay in the game, made a late run, and eventually came up short.
The loss left the Chippewas 19-14 and they will await a potential postseason bid. Buffalo (24-8), the top seed in the tournament, advances to Friday’s semifinals.
“I think we recognized how good a team Buffalo is and that this wasn’t going to be a game that we were going to blow Buffalo out,” CMU coach Keno Davis said.
