MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan University community is mourning the loss of longtime supporter James McGuirk, who died on Tuesday in Rockford.
Mr. McGuirk, a Mount Pleasant native, was a major supporter of Central Michigan University and its athletic department.
Most notable was his gift in support of the McGuirk Arena renovation project, which modernized the facility and expanded seating to accommodate 5,300 spectators.
The multi-use arena rates among the very best facilities in the Mid-American Conference, and serves as the home for the Central Michigan men’s and women’s basketball, gymnastics, volleyball and wrestling teams.
