Competitive collegiate bass fishing?
Yes it’s a thing and it’s a thing that is growing in the state of Michigan.
Earlier this month the Central Michigan University bass fishing team won the ‘School of the Year’ crown for the state of Michigan as it brought in more poundage than any other university or college in the state.
On Aug. 7 at the 2016 season-ending championship at Lake Mitchell in Cadillac CMU’s team received its state title as it finished atop the 17-team field with 416 points.
Michigan State, which won the ‘School of the Year’ title in 2014 and 2015, was second with 390 points while Grand Valley was third with 380 points.
