MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – It was an eye-opening performance.
And it has been duly noted on the national stage.
The Central Michigan gymnastics team posted a 196.375 in rolling past Illinois State on Saturday in the Chippewas’ season-opening dual meet at McGuirk Arena.
That score was far and away CMU’s best for an opening meet in program history, it tied for the 10th-best in program history, and, perhaps most importantly, it is the third-best score in the nation this season.
LSU posted a 197.150 over the weekend to seize the top spot, while Utah stands in second place after a 197.
