Chippewas Take 2 To Open Liberty Challenge

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Central Michigan softball team pouned out 21 hits -- six of them from Lacy Tolfree -- in collecting two wins on Thursday at the Liberty Softball Challenge at Liberty’s Osborne Stadium.

The Chippewas (3-3) blanked Delaware State, 9-0, in five innings to start the day and finished with a 8-5 win over Liberty in the nightcap.

CMU will close the challenge on Friday with a rematch against Delaware State (1 p.m.) and Liberty (6 p.m.). Delaware State is 0-2, Liberty 6-1.

Senior Hanna Warren (1-2) fired a one-hitter – a one-out third-inning single – in going the distance for CMU in the victory over Delaware State.
