DOVER, Del. – The Central Michigan women’s lacrosse team exploded for a program record 23 goals on Friday in downing Delaware State, 23-6, in an Atlantic Sun Conference game at the Hornets’ Alumni Stadium.

The win, CMU’s second straight, lifted the Chippewas to 6-9 overall, 3-5 ASUN. The 23 goals eclipsed the previous record 20 that CMU scored in its season-opening victory over St. Francis (Pa.).

CMU goes to Howard (0-10, 0-8) for an ASUN game on Sunday (noon).

Sophomore Jocelyn Lemay tied the program record with six goals – three of which came in the first five minutes of the game -- and added two assists to lead the Chippewas, who built a 6-0 lead and were firmly in charge, 14-6, at halftime.
