DEKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois got a run-scoring single and then a sacrifice fly to score two runs in the fifth inning to go ahead for good on Friday as the Huskies topped Central Michigan, 4-1, in the opener of a three-game Mid-American Conference softball series at the Huskies’ Mary M. Bell Field.
CMU fell to 21-23, 11-10 MAC while NIU is 20-29, 10-10 MAC. The three game series will conclude with a doubleheader on Saturday (2 p.m.).
