YPSILANTI, Mich. — A high finish on Saturday usually stems from a decent start on Friday.
Central Michigan was able to bank enough points in Friday’s scored events to put themselves within striking distance of the top, especially on the men’s side, at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at Eastern Michigan’s Bowen Field House.
Eastern Michigan leads the men’s team standings with 38 points. CMU is fourth with 15. Akron leads the women’s standings with 62. The Chippewas are eighth with 10.
CMU’s Kevin Weiler finished third in the men’s shot put with a season-best toss of 17.
