DETROIT – A Motor City miracle was not to be.
Everyone can be forgiven for having a serious case of the flashbacks Monday evening when Central Michigan had 70 yards to go and four seconds on the clock down one touchdown versus Minnesota in the Quick Lane Bowl at Ford Field.
But unlike the unbelievable Hail Mary touchdown last year in the Bahamas Bowl, it could not be duplicated in 2015 as Chippewas quarterback Cooper Rush was sacked on the game’s final play and the Golden Gophers held on for a 21-14 win.
“Obviously, we’re very disappointed in the outcome,” Central Michigan first-year head coach John Bonamego said.
