Aside from major surprises occurring in the weeks ahead, Central Michigan is going to be on the outside looking in as far as the Mid-American Conference West Division race is concerned.
That fact is certainly upsetting to Chippewas second-year head coach John Bonamego, whose main focus upon taking over the program in 2015 was to turn his alma mater into a Mid-American Conference is concerned.
But a 31-17 loss Saturday at Toledo almost certainly put a kibosh on those hopes for at least one more year as both the Rockets and unbeaten Western Michigan are now two games ahead of CMU in the loss column.
