SUN FILE PHOTO Central Michigan offensive coordinator Morris Watts has watched the bowl landscape change drastically during his 52-year coaching career.
When Morris Watts broke into the world of collegiate coaching in 1965, the bowl game landscape could not be any more different than it is today.
“There were basically four bowl games when I started coaching,” said Watts, the Central Michigan offensive coordinator who is in his 52nd year of coaching. “It was awfully difficult to get into one of ‘em, that’s for sure.”
Nowadays, there are 41 bowl games to choose from and leagues such as the Mid-American Conference have benefitted from the additions as its school affiliates are able to enjoy the rewards of a successful season.
