Central Michigan head coach John Bonamego fully supports national anthem protest by four Chippewas players

Four Central Michigan football players have joined the national discussion on social injustices as they protested during the national anthem Saturday afternoon prior to the Chippewas’ game versus Ball State at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

Junior defensive backs Ray Golden and Emmett Thomas, junior linebacker Tyree Waller and freshman defensive back Marcel Ray peacefully protested the national anthem by each raising their right fist.

Golden was the first to raise his fist three weeks ago according to CM Life, while the other three players joined him in the protest Saturday before Central Michigan’s 24-21 win over the Cardinals.
