DeKALB, Ill. – Getting tough and finding a way to win.
Traits of a championship team.
The Central Michigan women’s basketball team is a long way from claiming any kind of hardware, yet one-third of the way through the Mid-American Conference schedule, the Chippewas are unbeaten.
Redshirt freshman Micaela Kelly scored a career-high 22 points on Wednesday as the Chippewas wrestled away an 81-78 victory at Northern Illinois. CMU is 14-3, 6-0 MAC, and leads the West Division by two games.
“That’s a very scrappy win,” said CMU coach Sue Guevara, whose team is ranked sixth in the CollegeInsider.
