ATHENS, Ohio – Sean Renzi limited Ohio to one hit over eight innings and Dazon Cole collected three hits Friday as the Central Michigan baseball team opened a three-game Mid-American Conference series with an 8-2 win at the Bobcats’ Bob Wren Stadium.
The teams play game two of the series Saturday at 11 a.m. and close the set on Sunday at 1 p.m. CMU improved to 13-32, 7-9 MAC. Ohio is 20-24, 5-11.
Renzi (5-5), a senior right-hander, struck out five and walked six. The Chippewas turned three double plays behind him and overcame three errors, two of which came in the first inning when Ohio scored both of its runs, both of which were unearned.
