MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The only thing to do at this point, Central Michigan baseball coach Steve Jaksa says, is to keep swinging, keep fighting, keep battling.

The Chippewas play at Notre Dame on Wednesday (6:05 p.m.) in a non-conference game, then return to Mount Pleasant this weekend for a three-game Mid-American Conference series with Toledo at Theunissen Stadium.

The Chippewas are coming off a three-game MAC series with Ball State, during which they lost two of three to slip to 8-28 on the season.

The series was perhaps symbolic of the way things have unfolded for the Chippewas (8-28) this season: They got a solid start and played error-free defense in winning the series opener, 7-3; then they committed a season-high-tying seven errors in dropping game two, 10-7; they committed a costly error and squandered a golden opportunity late in dropping the series finale, 4-2.
