MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Nineteen Central Michigan student-athletes were named a Distinguished Scholar Athlete by the Mid-American Conference for the spring, 2016-17 season.
The award goes to student-athletes representing MAC institutions who have excelled both athletically and academically.
In each of the eight spring sports, the league names an Academic All-MAC team. Student-athletes must have achieved a 3.20 grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of his or her team's competitions to earn the honor.
From those academic teams, the faculty athletic representatives from each institution selected a `best of the best' as a Distinguished Scholar Athlete.
